No Compromise in Quantity
Tarboush has a nice, cool café like ambiance with a striking decor. The service inside the restaurant was very friendly and efficient. The bartender was kind enough to make samples of their special Halloween cocktail called Blood Simple for everyone in our party. It was interesting enough for me to order a regular sized version of it.
If you are in big group, the Tarboush Banquet is a real value for money meal. Falafels, hummus, baba ghanouj, fattoush (salad), pita, zathar, potatoes, rice, and kabobs. All for a very reasonable price.
While there is definitely no compromise in quantity, the quality could have been better. In particular, the chicken kabobs were a big let down. I was looking forward to it after making my way through the numerous vegetarian dishes. Dry and tough, the kabobs left a lot to be desired.
If hookah is your thing, then they have quite a few flavors to try. We decided to go for one of their flavors that cost a few bucks more than the rest and is supposed to give you a relatively 'higher' experience. I ain't no hookah judge but I didn't feel anything (not sure if that's a good or a bad thing). There was not much service outside in the hookah area and it was a bit of a struggle to find our server at one point of time.
I have been going back and forth between 3 and 4 stars and I guess I'll just stick to 4 for now. For I definitely wouldn't mind going back there again.
